Next meeting: April 16, 2003 at 7:30 pm, Parish House

Summary of Last Meeting
Mission

Original: The Cultural Committee will focus on a lecture series, the history of our church, and musical events. Monsignor Franco suggested that prominent theologians such as the editor of America Magazine be invited to speak. He also suggested that we select a historian from St. Augustine’s to take care of our history as a parish and invite Rev. Thomas J. Shelley, prominent historian of the Archdiocese of New York, to speak or give guidance. Musical concerts will be held in the church. We plan to invite participants from Europe for at least one concert.
November Update: The Cultural Committee will develop a “150 Years of St. Augustine Church” CD-ROM memento, incorporating: archived and current still pictures, video, music (including our choir), and voiceover, with a nominal charge to offset the cost to produce the CD’s in-house; set up monthly lecture series.  Produce musical events.
