150th Anniversary of St. Augustine Parish

Next meeting: April 16, 2003 at 7:30 pm, Parish House

Summary of Last Meeting:
Mission
Original: The Social Action Committee is comprised of the Word in Action group and will also look to “adopt a poor church”. Our focus will be to increase our “action” in putting our faith into practice. Monsignor Franco put forth Father Steven’s church in Africa, Apostles of Jesus, as a good church to adopt. One example of our good works will be to send to Father Steven the old tabernacle from the church. It was also noted by Monsignor Franco that St. Augustine Church is to sponsor a proposed rehabilitation center for recovering drug addicts,  located 2 1/4 hours north of Ossining. A parishioner has donated $300,000 for the purchase of the facility.
November Update: The Social Action Committee will coordinate with all other chairs and committees to identify what programs are already in place.  They will then identify new causes such as homelessness and health care that need to be addressed.
