1853 - St. Augustine Parish was founded as a
self-sustaining parish with the purchase of property on the west side of
"Highland Turnpike," some 500 feet south of Cedar Lane and about two
miles south of the present location.
1858 - Dedication of St. Augustine Church.
1892 - St. Augustine School, the first parochial school in Ossining, was
opened and was staffed by the Sisters of Charity.
1928 - A new school was built on North Highland Avenue across from the
Church and contained six classrooms, an auditorium, and gymnasium.
1942 - The Dominican Sisters of Columbus, Ohio, came to staff the school.
1958 - Expansion of school to 16 classrooms and addition of new
auditorium/gymnasium.
1977 - Purchase of Eagle Park property from Dominican Sisters.
Celebration of the 125th Anniversary of St. Augustine Parish and the Church and
School relocation to Eagle Park.
1986 - Ground breaking for the new Church.
1989 - First Parish Mass in the new Church on August 13. Dedication
of the new Church by His Eminence, John Cardinal O'Connor, on September 11.
1992 - Celebration of 100th Anniversary of St. Augustine School.
1997 - Consecration of New Altar and Blessing of Stations of the Cross by
Cardinal John O'Connor
1997 -Expansion of classrooms.
